Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), a flagship national initiative aimed at transforming Indian agriculture and achieving a Viksit Bharat by 2047, was formally launched on Thursday in Wokha by the district deputy commissioner, Vineet Kumar.
Delivering a keynote address, Kumar underscored the campaign’s mission to bridge the gap between agricultural innovation and grassroots implementation.
“This campaign is a vital step in ensuring that advancements in agri-science reach the farmers directly,” he stated, urging field teams to communicate in locally understandable language to ensure meaningful engagement.

Highlighting the field outreach strategy, the official informed that campaign teams would visit three villages per day, focusing on building trust with local communities.
“We need to ‘break the ice’ and ensure our visits are genuinely beneficial,” he added.
Senior scientist and head of ICAR-KVK Wokha Dr. Sandeep Deshmukh delivered the opening remarks, outlining the national scope of VKSA. The campaign will mobilize over 2,000 scientific teams across the country to reach an estimated 1.5 crore farmers in 700 districts. In Nagaland, 309 teams will cover even the most remote villages.
“This decentralized model not only helps in disseminating technologies but also collects grassroots insights that will shape future research and policies,” Dr. Deshmukh said.
The event featured the ceremonial flag-off of the Krishi Rath, a special van that will serve as a mobile extension unit, launching the series of village outreach programs under VKSA.
Chaired by Dr. B.L. Mhalo Tungoe, CTO of ICAR-KVK Wokha, the program included a welcome address, release of informational publications, and a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Thungchano Ezung.
