Visosieto Vüprü defends title in Hornbill Blowing of Horn competition

Kisama: Oldest participant was an 85-year-old from Konyak tribe

The Hornbill Blowing of Horn competition was held at the Kisama main arena on 7th December, 2024 where defending champion Visosieto Vüprü from the Angami Morung was judged as the winner while Chingpong form the Phom Morung and Wenlad Konyak from the Konyak Morung were judged second and third respectively.

The 25th Edition of the Hornbill Festival 2024 witnessed thirteen tribal morungs taking part at the Blowing of Horn competition where the youngest contestant was 19 years of age and the oldest was 85-year-old from the Konyak tribe.

The winners were judged on three criteria including sustenance, creativity and melody. The competition was organized by Tribal Vision in collaboration with Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland. Tribal Vision society was formed in 2012 with the sole objective of picking up fallen thread and reviving forgotten cultural practices.
