Voter Information Slip not allowed as proof of identity of voters: CEO Nagaland

Kohima: Voters will be required to produce photo identity document approved by the ECI for establishing their identity

The office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland has notified that the Voter Information Slip will not be allowed as proof of identity of voters in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election 2023, although the slip have been issued to facilitate in accessing information on their serial numbers in the electoral roll, polling stations, date of poll, time etc.

The CEO in the notification released on Tuesday stated that electors who have been issued the Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) are required to produce it for identification at polling stations before casting votes.

The notification further mentioned that electors who are unable to produce the EPIC shall produce an alternative photo identity document for establishing their identity.

The following alternative documents can be used: Aadhaar Card, MNREGA Job Card, Passbooks with photograph issued by Bank/ Post Office, Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, Driving License, PAN Card, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, Indian Passport, Pension document with photograph, Service Identity Cards with photograph issued to employees by Central/ State Govt. PSUs/ Public Limited Companies, Official Identity Cards issued to MPs/ MLAs/ MLCs and Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card, M/o Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of  India.
