The National Democratic Progressive Party officially handed over the party ticket to Wangpang Konyak for the bye-election to the 43 Tapi Assembly Constituency under Mon district. The ticket was presented to Wangpang Konyak by party President Chingwang Konyak in a ceremony held at the NDPP Office in Chümoukedima.

The 43 Tapi AC seat has fallen vacant after the demise of Advisor Noke Wangnao on 28th August 2023.

As per the seat sharing formula of the alliance partners NDPP and BJP, the 43 Tapi seat belongs to NDPP and as such Wanpang Konyak is a consensus candidate of the alliance partners.

The Election Commission of India had on 9th October 2023 announced that the bye-election for 43 Tapi (ST) Assembly Constituency of Nagaland would be conducted on 7th November 2023 and the counting on 5th December.
