A Water Fountain at the traffic intersection Landmark Colony, Dimapur was inaugurated by K. Hukato Chishi, IFS Member Secretary, Nagaland Pollution Board & State Nodal Officer, Clean Air Programme (NCAP) on June 4, informed DIPR.
K. Hukato Chishi stated that it was a privilege to have a Water Fountain at Dimapur, where it will play a very significant role and maintained that good air quality will bring health benefits for the citizens. Pointing out that the air quality in Dimapur and Kohima did not meet the standards set by the Central Pollution Control Board, Chishi mentioned that the Government of India, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has provided an opportunity for improving air quality at Dimapur & Kohima. Bad air quality can impact on health, as dry air can cause respiratory problems, said Chishi urging the public and residents to maintain the fountain and encouraged for creating more public gardens and fountain in residential areas.
Er. Bendangtola walling, Executive Engineer, PHED Urban Division Dimapur in her Technical Report said that the fountain was constructed by Urban Division Public Health Education, Dimapur funded by National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), a Programme launched by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in the year 2019 to improved air quality at the city, regional and national level. The cost of the activity was Rs. 10.00 lakh from the year 2023 to 2024.

She said that the main objective of construction of water fountain on the roadside under NCAP was to minimize and reduce Dust Pollution created on the roadside and for beautification of the city.
Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) in his short speech thanked the PHED Department for constructing a beautiful water fountain for the people of Dimapur and was privilege to be a part of the programme.
The programme was chaired by Er. V. Mughalu Sumi, SDO Maintenance PHED, Urban Division Dimapur and voted of thanks was delivered by Er. Moatemsu Walling, Junior Engineer, PHED Urban Division, Dimapur.
