The Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPGs) has appealed for reconciliation among the leaders of United Naga People’s Government (UNPG), Naga National Council (Parent-Body).
In its statement, WC, NNPGs said that the commotion has likely been caused by the ‘anti-Naga elements and characters using cash and criminal propaganda to destroy the unity and comradeship within the WC, NNPG members.’ It accused these elements of taking advantage of Z Royim (80), who is ‘limited by age, lack of education and village existence.’
The committee therefore appealed to Z Royim to respect his age and the Naga cause and ‘remain a part of WC, NNPGs maintaining the status quo’ without which ‘he will live an isolated existence in his village’, it cautioned.
It also stated that if Z Royim acts against the unity of the Committee and as per the as per the decision of UNPG/NNC emergency declaration, the WC, NNPGs will recognise Kiviho Zhimomi, president and Toshi Walling, general secretary, who is also Co-Convener in the WC, NNPGs, as legitimate leadership of UNPG/NNC.
The UNPG/NNC had on 26 April 2023 discharged Z Royim from the duties and responsibilities as its president and appointed Kiviho Zhimomi as its new president. Days later, Z Royim released a statement announcing the termination of Zhimomi and Walling from UNPG/NNC.
