N Kitovi Zhimomi, Convener of Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (WC of NNPGs), on Thursday, wrote to the Chairman of Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG), Lt Gen Amarjeet Singh Bedi, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, VSM (Retd) regarding the Khango Konyak–Isak Sumi issue.
In his letter, Zhimomi stated that the General Secretary of NSCN-K and a co-convenor of the WC of NNPGs, Isak Sumi, was arrested and inflicted with “physical injuries” by “irresponsible elements” following his impeachment from the group by President Konyak on Wednesday.
The letter further said that Sumi was later released on the intervention of Gaon Buras (GBs) and civil societies but that the office of the Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB) continue to be occupied by “the unruly elements” who he alleged were planning on escaping to Myanmar to join the Yang Aung group of NSCN.
The Convenor gave an ultimatum to Lt Gen Bedi to intervene in the release of “seven/eight of Co-Convener Isak’s men” and the “recovery of Arms and documents to Co-Convener Isak within 36 Hrs”.
Failing to do so, Zhimomi stated that “WC, NNPGS would do all in its means and use WC joint force to clear the occupation of the CF office” as “it is duty bound …. to evict the unruly elements, peacefully or forcefully, and retrieve all arms and documents in possession of the saboteurs.”
