The Western Chakhesang Youth Organization (WCYO) has strongly condemned the recent statements made by the president of the Dimapur District Auto Drivers Union (DDADU) during a press conference concerning the June 15 sexual assault case in Dimapur.
In a statement issued by its president, Wekupe Therie, the WCYO criticized the DDADU president for disseminating one-sided and unverified information to the media while the matter remains under active police investigation. The organization expressed deep concern over DDADU’s decision to conduct an internal inquiry into the accused, who is currently in judicial custody, describing the move as “inappropriate” and “irresponsible”.

WCYO further asserted that the DDADU leader’s comments lacked factual basis, and unfairly portrayed the victim in a negative light, thereby compounding her trauma and undermining the integrity of the legal process.
The youth body demanded a public and unconditional apology from the DDADU president through the media, citing the damage caused by his remarks. It warned that failure to do so would compel WCYO to initiate appropriate measures to protect the victim’s dignity and uphold justice.
