The Wokha District Football Association (WDFA) officially launched its new jersey on July 25 , ahead of the 24th edition of the Dr T Ao Inter-District Football Trophy, scheduled to be held in Kohima from August 1 to 12.

The launch event was graced by Renbomo Ezung, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, as the chief guest.

In his address, Renbomo Ezung lauded the WDFA for its continued efforts in promoting football among the youth of the district. He urged the players to maintain discipline, respect their opponents, and give their utmost performance during the tournament.

“You are not just footballers but role models who have the potential to inspire many young aspirants across the district,” Ezung stated. He further encouraged the team to abide by the tournament guidelines, respect the referees’ decisions, and support one another both on and off the field.

Also addressing the players, Ezung reminded them of the importance of unity. “Though you come from different clubs and academies, you now represent Wokha as one team,” he said, urging them to foster team spirit and mutual respect throughout the competition.

Expressing optimism in the team’s capabilities, he also acknowledged WDFA’s collective efforts in assembling a strong and talented squad. He expressed confidence that the team would make the district proud and bring the trophy home.
