The Wokha District Football Association (WDFA) commemorated Grassroots Football Day at ZK turf, Saron colony in Wokha on Friday.
As part of its commitment to nurturing and streamlining football at the grassroots level, the association invited young boys aged 4 years-old to 10 years-olds in the district to be a part of the event. The participants were provided a platform to play football and receive training, fostering early engagement with the sport.

Additionally, a separate training camp was organized for boys under 16 years of age to further strengthen the development pathway for young footballers of that age group.

Aligning with the initiative of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), WDFA also conducted a tree-planting drive under the theme “Football for the Goals”. The activity aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage the football community to take proactive steps toward a greener future, integrating sustainability with football activities.

The highlight of the event was an exhibition match between WDFA officials and the Wokha District Referee Board (WDRB), adding a competitive edge to the celebrations.
