We have now reached an unsustainable point: Private EHCPs suspend AB-PMJAY/CMHIS services across Nagaland from April 17

The Nagaland Private Doctors Association (NPDA) has announced the suspension of AB-PMJAY and CMHIS services by Private Empanelled Health Care Providers across Nagaland starting from April 17.

“Over the past several months, we have persevered through immense challenges to sustain these vital healthcare schemes for the people of our state. Despite repeated setbacks and escalating operational pressures, we continued to deliver services in good faith. However, due to prolonged non-payment of claims, we have now reached an unsustainable point, both financially and operationally,” stated the NPDA in a press release.

With the crisis unfolding for over six months, the NPDA mentioned that it had already considered suspending services as early as February. Despite the scenario, the NPDA chose to carry on, driven by its commitment to public health and service. However, multiple appeals and meetings with the concerned authorities did not provide any resolution, and the dues remain unpaid.

“Healthcare is a complex ecosystem that relies on timely and consistent funding. Drug suppliers must be paid to ensure the availability of essential medicines. Doctors, nurses, and hospital staff depend on regular salaries. EMis for life-saving medical equipment must be honored. Daily operational expenses essential to running a healthcare facility must be met. Without these, the integrity and survival of healthcare institutions are at risk,” contended the Association.

Given the present circumstances, the NPDA stated, continuing AB-PMJAY/CMHIS services without the necessary financial support is not only untenable but would also compromise the very existence of our healthcare units.

“We sincerely regret the inconvenience this may cause to the public. Our commitment to the health and well-being of the people remains steadfast, and we hope for an immediate and constructive resolution that will allow us to resume services without further delay,” expressed the Association.
