Week-long training on banana fibre extraction and handicraft development commences at Meriyan village

Shishoi Oshom-Entrepreneurship Task Force (ETF) Cell, in collaboration with Nagaland Tool-Room & Training Centre, Dimapur, has launched an intensive training program focused on Banana Fibre Extraction and Handicraft Development at Meriyan Village.

The hands-on training program which began today, aims to equip participants with essential skills and techniques related to banana fibre extraction and the creation of handicrafts from this versatile natural resource. Through a combination of theoretical sessions and practical demonstrations, participants will learn the intricacies of fibre extraction, yarn spinning, and various handicraft-making techniques.

Farmers representing Tchutho Cooperative Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) and Lichon Farmers Producer Company (FPC) from Meriyan Village will be participating in the training program. Their active participation underscores the local community’s commitment to exploring new avenues for economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.
