The Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation (WCYO) and the Western Chakhesang Students Union (WCSU), with the support of the Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) and the Western Chakhesang Mothers Association (WCMA), organized a special reception ceremony for Yoto Chizo at the Dimapur Airport Premises on 3 December 2024. Chizo had recently won the Bronze Medal in the 71kg category at the East Asia Muaythai Championship held in Hong Kong.
Lhikhro Kreo, Press Secretary, WCH, informed that the reception ceremony was filled with pride and celebration. It was chaired by Vepozo Dozo, Joint Secretary of the Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) and began with a blessing from Aba Khesoh, Senior Pastor of Faithway Church.
Speaking on behalf of the Western Chakhesang Hoho, Pretso Therie, Vice President, congratulated Chizo who highlighted the dedication and hard work involved in achieving such an international recognition.
Wekupe Therie, President of the Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation (WCYO), acknowledged the importance of this accomplishment and the role of sports in community development. Neiviletuo Shijoh, Finance Secretary of the Western Chakhesang Students Union (WCSU), congratulated the young athlete for his exceptional achievement.
The speakers emphasized the significance of individual sports in motivating athletes and inspiring the youth. They also called for increased support from the State Government for individual sports, which offer greater opportunities for participation at national and international levels.
“Individual sports teach self-motivation and resilience. We urge the State Government to prioritize support for individual athletes, as it will help them achieve success on the world stage and inspire future generations,” said the speakers. Further, the WCH called upon the State Government to recognize and reward athletes who bring pride to the state through their achievements in international competitions. This recognition would further encourage others to pursue sports seriously as a profession, they stated.
Yoto Chizo expressed his deep gratitude for the support he has received from the Western Chakhesang Hoho, WCYO, WCSU, and WCMA. He thanked them for organizing the reception and for their contributions toward his success.
“I am truly thankful for the honor and the support I have received from the WCH, WCYO, WCSU, and WCMA. I am also grateful to my coach, Eno Hemavi Ayemi, and my family for their constant encouragement. Above all, I thank our Lord Jesus Christ for giving me the strength to achieve this milestone,” said Chizo.
