Wild elephants intruded into the settlement area of Tsungiki Village, Second Bazaar, specifically into the corridors of E. Nyimtsemo Kikon’s kitchen garden. A video clip captured the gentle giant devouring banana stems around 7 PM on Saturday.

In a phone interaction with Nagaland Tribune, Kikon stated, “We are afraid of living together with the gentle giants, even though they appear to be calm.” Kikon expressed fear of conflict with the elephants, noting that their habitat overlaps with human corridors. He mentioned that a house was damaged by one of the elephants on Saturday and bananas were eaten by two elephants stationed in the locality for almost a week.

In the video, Kikon can be heard instructing the gentle giant to eat the bananas and leave in peace without harming anyone. He even directed the elephant to the remaining banana tree standing in his kitchen garden.

Kikon bravely interacted with the wild elephant from just 30 feet away, using a torchlight to assist the elephant in eating the bananas.
