On the 75th Republic day, the Governor some of the crucial issues highlighted were the need to resolve the Naga political issue through unity and cooperation, the significant progress in the field of sports in Nagaland, the upcoming Asia Music Summit and regional and national sporting events to be hosted by Nagaland.
Acknowledging the challenges and constraints posed by the Naga Political issue, the Governor stated that the solution continues to elude the Nagas inspite of the best efforts and good wishes of everyone concerned. Ganesan also expressed gratitude to all parties involved in the efforts towards an honourable and acceptable resolution of the issue. “The Government is keen and committed for an early solution. I appeal all the stakeholders to rise above their differences, and to make a united final push to arrive at the eagerly awaited solution,” stated Ganesan amplifying for a sincere commitment to resolving the issue through unity and cooperation.
On the recently passed Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023 by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly with the relevant Rules being framed, Ganesan informed, “The State Government is committed to holding the Urban Local Bodies elections soon.”
Reflecting on the significant progress in Sports, the Governor noted that Naga sportspersons continue to excel at the various national and international events, and earning medals for the State. “The Department of Youth Resources and Sports recently commissioned 5 pre-fabricated multi discipline sports stadiums, while construction of 11 more such projects at Shamator Town, Chessore, Aboi, Phek Town, Meluri, Tening, District Office Complex Chümoukedima, Wokha Village, Pungro Town, Kezo Town and Sechu-Zubza are underway and all are expected to be completed before the end of 2024,” informed Ganesan.

The recent development of Football Ground at Lakhuti, Wokha, Nagaland sanctioned by the Sports Ministry under Khelo India was also highlighted where the ground was completed and inaugurated on December 16, 2023.
“We are also taking up construction of several other major sports infrastructure projects, most notable among them being the synthetic turf football ground of FIFA standard international size with galleries and floodlights at NAPTC, Chümoukedima,” mentioned the Governor.

The Governor also updated on the Nagaland Government’s plan to host national and regional sporting events, such as the North East Olympic Games in March 2024, and the Asian Belt & Traditional Wrestling Championships later this year, which will be the biggest ever sports event to be held in Nagaland so far.
Nagaland will also be hosting the Asia Music Summit at Kohima from February 1 to 3 which will be one of the country’s biggest music expos, with the anticipated participation of more than 15 countries, with 500 delegates and representatives from five continents.
Ganesan exuded optimism and confidence, that with “synergy and cooperation between Government and the robust population, the State can reach much greater heights”.
“There is still, however, a lot of ground to cover. In this fast moving world, we have to strive harder if we wish to move shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the world,” remarked the Governor.
