A workshop on Lotha Language Development was jointly organized on Saturday by Lotha Academy and Mt. Tiyi College (MTC) at the college campus for Lotha academicians and language teachers (MIL).
More than 51 delegates attended the program to delve on the issue of looking and planning for the future of Lotha dialect at school and college levels.
Resource persons for the programme were Fr. Abraham Lotha, Ph.D who stressed on the issues and challenges of Lotha phonetics and Benri Ezung, Program Executive, All India Radio, Kohima who spoke on Khentsa Thangshi (Folk song Tutelage). Ezung lamented that 40 percent of the folk languages used by our ancestors are slowly fading away and stressed that there was an urgent need to preserve the same before it is too late.
Earlier, welcome speech was delivered by Sentimenla Jamir, Vice Principal, MTC Wokha. The programme ended with vote of thanks from Thungjamo Tsanglao, Chairman, Lotha Literature Committee.
The moderators at the program were Dr Janbemo Humtsoe and Aremo Ngullie.
