The third time was really the charm for Achumbemo Kikon as he took 40 Bhandari A/C from Mhonlumo Kikon after consecutive loses to the latter in the year 2013 and 2018.
Achumbemo (NPF) comfortably beat Mhonlumo (BJP) in the 2023 Nagaland General Election by 3582 votes.
In the year 2013, Achumbemo had contested as an Independent candidate against Mhonlumo, who was then in NCP, and was defeated by a close margin of 254 votes.
In the 2018 election, he contested from NPF securing 10893 votes but got defeated again by a margin of 312 by Mhonlumo (BJP) who secured 11205 votes.
The secretary general of the Naga People’s Front is the only other successful NPF candidate in the 2023 election besides Kuzholuzo Nienu.

Meanwhile, Yanthungo Patton (BJP) kept his seat secure at the Nagaland Legislative Assembly by winning 37 Tyui A/C by 3092 votes.
Patton, the deputy chief minister, had earlier contested in 2008, 2013 and 2018 on BJP ticket.
In the 2018 election, he defeated Yankithung Yanthan (NPF) by a margin of 3092.
After his victory today, Y. Patton took to twitter to thank his supporters stating, “Grateful to everyone who placed their faith in me and voted for me. It’s an absolute honour to have been chosen to serve as your representative. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!”

At 39 Sanis A/C, Mhathung Yanthan (NDPP) contested his second election and retained his seat with an easy win by a margin of 9513 votes.
In the year 2018, he secured 10548 votes defeating Ramongo Lotha (JDU) 7556 with a margin of 2992.
Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe (NCP) won at 38 Wokha A/C by 3061 votes. This was his second time contesting in election.
In 2018, he contested on JDU ticket but lost to NPF candidate Dr. Chumben Murry.
