The Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Amit Kumar Ranjan IAS has issued an order to the beneficiaries/ dwellers of structures encroaching the acquired ROW in NH-2 to demolish at their own cost the encroached portion of the structure, providing 15 days time.
The District Administration carried out mop up exercise to clear the NH-2 (Old NH- 61) of any encroachment and to remove any structure found on the acquired Right of Way (ROW) for the project of widening of the single/ intermediate lane to 2 lane from Km 72.4- km 83.0 on NH-2 (Old NH-61). Six persons were found to be in occupation of RCC structures on the acquired ROW. “However, based on the plea made by them time was given to decide on whether to demolish the structures or make full recovery of the compensation amount,” stated the order.
Thereafter, a team from Administration and PWD NH carried a survey of these structures to verify the extent of encroachment. Subsequently a hearing was held in the chamber of Deputy Commissioner with the beneficiaries. The representative of JAC, Wokha Village Council Chairman and Longsa Village Council Chairman were also present as witness. “The beneficiaries were found not in a position to refund the whole amount. Taking into account the lapse of time and new constructions, it was observed that any recovery will require the computation of recovery amount based on a suitable formula,” highlighted the DC.
