The Wokha District Health Society, in collaboration with the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), officially launched a 100-Day Campaign for TB Elimination on December 7, 2024, at the District Commissioner’s Conference Hall.
In his keynote address, Wokha Deputy Commissioner, Vineet Kumar, IAS, stressed the importance of maximizing the campaign’s impact through public education to combat tuberculosis (TB). He called for increased efforts to achieve TB certification for more villages within the district, highlighting that only nine villages have already been certified.
District TB Officer, Dr. Akum Jamir, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the TB Elimination Programme, focusing on preventive measures and public awareness strategies, including the critical importance of early treatment.
Following, Additional Deputy Commissioner Renbomo Ezung, NCS, recognized Ni-Kshay Mitra and presented certificates to TB champions. One of the champions, Limathung, shared his personal experience of battling TB.
Deputy Commissioner, Vineet Kumar then flagged off the Ni-Kshay Vahan, marking the commencement of the campaign activities.
