Wokha Police have arrested the three fugitives who were on the run after escaping from District Jail Wokha on 14th September 2023. Additional Superintendent of Police, Wokha, Soriso, NPS informed that Shishumo Tungoe, Chenio Ngullie, and Rikhyo Ngullie were arrested from two different locations in the early hours on Tuesday.

The Addl SP also disclosed that a special team was formed to search and apprehend the escapees the moment an FIR was filed by the Jailor, District Jail, Wokha. All their efforts paid off when the fugitives were arrested by the team led by ASI Zubemo Ovung around 2:00 am on Tuesday after five days on the run from authorities, he added.

While Chenio Ngullie was apprehended from Suphayan Village in the district, Rikhyo Ngullie and Shishumo Tungoe were apprehended from the foothills of Merapani Village area, the police said. The trio were in the prison in connection with theft.

Addl SP Soriso further informed that the accused will be kept in police custody for 24 hours during which they will be presented before the court and then sent to the District Jail for judicial custody.
