Wokha District Table Tennis Championship 2025 concludes

The Wokha District Table Tennis Championship-cum-Inter-School Table Tennis Championship 2025 organised by the Wokha District Table Tennis Association (WDTTA) concluded on September 13 evening at the Youth Centre, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Wokha with Dr Chumben Murry, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, as Special Guest, while Dr Jonsuthung Kithan, President of the Wokha District Badminton Association, as the Special Invitee.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Murry congratulated the participants for their commitment and spirit of sportsmanship, while commending the WDTTA for organising the championship. He emphasised that sports foster discipline, perseverance and unity, while also opening avenues for professional careers and employment. He also highlighted the State Government’s efforts in strengthening sports infrastructure across Nagaland, encouraging young players to pursue their passion with determination.

In his remarks, Dr Jonsuthung Kithan noted the challenges faced by young athletes due to the financial costs involved in pursuing sports. He called for stronger collaboration between sporting associations, parents and the wider community in order to nurture promising talents from the grassroots level.

The two-day championship saw enthusiastic participation from students and athletes across the district. In the finals, Haulim Sibo K Chang emerged as champion in the Boys Singles category, while Nyanthung Ngullie clinched the Men’s Singles title. Zachamo Ovung took the Masters Singles crown, while in the doubles categories, Denngel Menmei Phom with Bibenthung L Yanthan, Mhasivi Miachieo with Seyievilie Seyie, and the duo of Thechamo Kikon and Zachamo Ovung lifted the Boys, Men’s and Masters Doubles titles respectively.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Thechamo Kikon, Vice President of WDTTA.
