Wokha DPDB meeting deliberates on registration of Ekhumrhong Rehab Centre, and opening of new Don Bosco School at Akuk

The monthly District Planning & Development Board meeting of Wokha was held on February 21 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Wokha. The meeting was chaired by Chairman DPDB Wokha & Advisor for Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan, while MLA 38 A/C Mhonbemo Humtsoe also attended the meeting.

The meeting began with an introduction of new DPDB members, namely SDEO Sanis Rahfael Zubonthung. According to DIPR, the following agendas were discussed during the meeting. Registration of Societies such as Ekhumrhong Rehab Centre at Yikhum village, opening of new Don Bosco School at Akuk village, activities of Kaviyasri Project and District industries Centre and review of aspirational villages.

Zanbemo Kithan, Pastor Yikhum village highlighted on the activities of the rehab Centre (Ekhumrhong) at Yikhum village for registration of the same. Kithan mentioned that the rehab centre is purely a Church founding project to enable the substance abusive persons to fully recover by engaging them on various activities on skill development and teaching them through Christian faith.

Chairman DPDB & Advisor Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan thanked the Yikhum Baptist church for taking the noble initiatives in providing yeoman service which is not only  beneficial for the particular village but for the entire district.

In regard to the opening of new Don Bosco School at Akuk village, the Chairman requested the SDEO to submit the verification report in the next DPDB meeting for approval. S. Mhayani Shitiri, District Executive Officer (CBBD) highlighted on farmer producer organisation and the advantages of FPOS where she stated that the department has established FPOS in all the seven existing blocks in the district. The main objectives is to benefit the common farmers to boost the economy status of the district.

District Development Manager, National Bank for Agricultural & Rural Development (NABARD), Poji highlighted on the developmental activities and beneficial schemes available under NABARD for Wokha district.

Meanwhile, District Industrial Centre, District Resources Person Thungchano Jungio, highlighted on the activities under Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) schemes.

For better implementation of all the government schemes and projects, the Chairman DPDB urged the gathering to share information with other line departments for successful implementation to benefit the farmers to boost the economy of the district as well as the state.

Later in the day led by Chairman DPDB Wokha & Advisor Mhathung Yanthan accompanied by MLA Mhonbemo Humtsoe along with District Administration, DPDB members, Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho, representatives of Joint Action Committee (JAC), Lotha Student’s Union and officials from National Highway inspected the ongoing NH-61 (2) road construction project. Mhathung Yanthan thanked the Lotha Hoho and all the Civil Societies Organisations for taking the initiatives to complete the National Highway project as specified in the DPR. He further assured the Construction Company that the District Administration as well as the CSOs will extend all out support to complete the project on time.
