The Lotha Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have decided to extend the suspension of bandh on National Highway 2 (previously NH61) in Wokha district, considering that the contractor TTC Infra India Pvt Ltd has stationed its workers at the site to resume work.
“With the expectation that the contractor would resume the abandoned works of the NH 2 from 72.4 km to 83.00 km, at an early date, the CSOs have conditionally resolved to extend the period of suspension of Band, subject to re imposition of the Bandh,” Lotha Hoho, Joint Action Committee, Lotha Eloe Hoho, Lotha Students’ Union, Lotha Youth Hoho, Wokha District Village Council Chairmen Association, Wokha Town Colonies Union, Wokha District Chamber of Commerce and Industries and All Commercial Vehicles Association, Wokha District stated in their joint press release.
The CSOs mentioned that with the majority of the structured on compensated/paid land being demolished, the contractor and NH authorities are expected to re-start the work.
The organisations further assured cooperation with the contractor and to safeguard the workers and cautioned that “anyone who, in anyway, harass the workers will be taken action by the CSOs.”
The Lotha organisations therefore fervently urge all concerned to extend their support to the CSOs, govt authorities and the contractor for implementing the Road Project work as per specifications, they added.
Further, the CSOs urged the National Highway supervisory officials to be at the work site round the clock, “unlike in the past, which necessitated the CSOs to involve themselves.”
