The second day of the Tokhü Emong Festival was held at the Public Ground, Wokha, featuring cultural presentations and traditional competitions, with Wokha MLA and Chairman of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Tseminy, Arch Jwenga Seb, gracing the celebration as the special guest.
Extending festive greetings to the Lotha community, the MLA reflected on the enduring friendship between the Lotha and Rengma communities. He noted that their shared boundaries, forests, and cultural ties have long strengthened mutual respect and cooperation, expressing that visiting Wokha felt like “coming home.”
Addressing the gathering, Seb highlighted the values of resilience, hard work, honesty, and unity as virtues passed down from the ancestors that should continue to guide the younger generation. He cautioned against over-reliance on “freebies,” stating that benefits gained without effort often bear consequences, and urged the community to uphold patience, diligence, and sincerity in all endeavours.
Underscoring the importance of environmental conservation, the MLA reminded that the forefathers practised sustainable living even without formal education. He called for the responsible use of natural resources and condemned unethical hunting and fishing practices driven by greed, which he said threaten both ecological balance and community welfare.
Expressing concern over internal divisions within society, organisations, and even among national workers, Seb appealed to the people to rise above differences and work together for peace, unity, and progress.
