President of India, Droupadi Murmu, in her message on the eve of International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024, said that women are setting new benchmarks in all fields whether it is in science and technology or medicine, space, armed forces or sports.

“A glimpse could be seen in the remarkable display of women power and leadership during this year’s Republic Day Parade,” she added, congratulating all citizens, especially women, on the occasion and wishing all women bright future.

President Murmu also stated that IWD is an important occasion to emphasise the need to provide equal opportunities for women and empower them in all spheres of life as there are several challenges that needs addressing even in the present day. “This day is dedicated to recognise the achievements of women and their efforts in raising awareness about gender equality and women’s rights”, the President also said.

International Women’s Day is observed every year on 8th March. This year’s theme designated by the United Nations is ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’.
