“Nagaland has lots of opportunities through entrepreneurship but we are not making use of it”, the Advisor pointed out. He stressed that one should not only look for government jobs but grab the opportunities by getting skilled in various self employment courses. He also stated that opportunities are only for hardworking and passionate persons.

Kovi Meyase, NCS, Additional Secretary (L&ESDE) Ex-Officio Director (HOD) Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, shared the importance of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.

Pointing out that Nagaland State has the 4th highest rate of unemployment in the country, he regretted that most graduates opt for government jobs while most parents also encourage their children only for government jobs. “We are all responsible for ourselves”, Meyase said while encouraging youths to look “to the other side” by pursuing skill trainings and becoming self-employed rather than just looking at government jobs. People from other parts of India come and earn in our land, we should question ourselves why cannot earn? he said.

Meyase also mentioned some few qualities that an entrepreneur should have such as self-confidence, flexibility, patience, passion, communication skill and self-discipline. He concluded his note by saying, “Gain experience before setting up your own enterprise or business”.
