Workshop on Re-Engineering & Restructuring of District Industries, centres held in Kohima

Kohima: Workshop aims to promote enterprises, generate employment, bolster economic sectors, address unemployment

A workshop titled “Study on Re-Engineering and Restructuring of DI & DICs in Kohima, Nagaland” was organised by the Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland in collaboration with the National Institute of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (NI-MSME) Hyderabad, as part of the North Eastern Council (NEC) project on Thursday at the Conference Hall of the District Industries Centre, DIPR stated.

Sanjiv Dey delivered a comprehensive presentation detailing the objectives of the study which aims to rejuvenate District Industries and District Industries Centres (DI & DICs) by aligning them with the industrial policies of the 8 North Eastern Region (NER) states. The key objectives include promoting enterprises, generating employment, bolstering economic sectors, and addressing unemployment. The presentation encouraged participants to identify potential schemes for future entrepreneurship.

Y. Intsangju Sangtam, General Manager, DIC Kohima, discussed the pivotal role of the District Industries Centre in driving industrial development. He highlighted various initiatives, including schemes for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), such as the Chief Minister Microfinance Initiative (CMMFI) and One District One Product (ODOP). He also stressed the importance of registering units under these initiatives.

The workshop drew participation from DI & DIC officials, stakeholders, existing and potential entrepreneurs, industry associations, representatives from Youth Net, and students from Kohima College.
