A one-day workshop on “Tools and Online Resources for Academia” was organized by the Library Advisory Committee, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Baptist College, Kohima, on July 5 at Room No. 12. The workshop aimed to equip faculty members and administrators with essential digital tools and resources that can ease and enhance administration, help teaching-learning experience and develop overall academic growth.
The program was chaired by Dr Sentinaro, Coordinator, IQAC, with Alovi Zhimomi, Consultant for Library Education and Technologies Services, as the resource person who brought her expertise to guide the participants through the two sessions.
The first technical session was moderated by Vincent Kent, Head of the Department of Sociology, Baptist College, Kohima. The session titled “Digital Repository DSpace”, aimed to educate the participants on the key features, benefits, and practical applications of DSpace in academia, highlighting its role in enhancing research visibility and collaboration.
Zhimoni introduced and highlighted the significance, accessibility and functionality of the software DSpace and stated, “DSpace is a valuable tool for managing and promoting digital assets in academic institutions.”

Along with the technical presentation, she also gave live demonstration of the possibility on uses of various open online resources.
The second session was moderated by L Thisdelong Rüdy, Head of the Department of Political Science. The topic of discussion was “Research Tools and Online Learning Materials.” Zhimomi elaborated on various online platforms and tools that can significantly aid academic research and the creation of digital learning environments.
After every season, a brief Q&A time was given to allow participants to clarify their doubts and engage with the speaker.
The program started with a prayer by Dr KewepfuzuLohe, Principal, Baptist College, Kohima followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr KekucholPusa, Principal of Baptist College, Kohima, Sechü campus. Angel Meru, Convener, Library Advisory Committee, outlined the objectives of the workshop and introduced the resource person. The workshop concluded with a closing remark by Seyiesilie Vüprü, Assistant Coordinator, IQAC.
