Workshop under MOVCD-NER held in Meluri

A workshop under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for Northeast Region (MOVCD-NER) Phase 4 was recently organized by the Department of Agriculture at the village community hall in Meluri, Phek District. The program was graced by the presence of Albert Ezung, ADC Meluri, who served as the special guest.

The event commenced with an invocation by Virhovi, a member of the Board of Directors at Meluri Farmer Producer Company (FPC). Mhonchumo Lotha, SDAO Meluri, extended a warm welcome to the attendees, expressing his gratitude for their participation.

Albert Ezung delivered an inspiring speech on the benefits of “Organic Farming,” encouraging the farmers of Meluri to indulge more into organic farming practices.

The first half of the program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mhonchumo Lotha, SDAO Meluri.

The second half of the program featured Ato Nyekha, Project Associate at The Green Caravan, as the resource person. He spoke on the “Purpose of Organic Farming, Its Advantages, Business Opportunities, Value Chain Development, and Market Linkage.” This was followed by a training session on the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP), which outlined the institutional framework for the accreditation of certification bodies and the certification of organic products.

The program concluded with a question-and-answer session, allowing participants to address their queries and deepen their understanding of organic farming practices.
