World Environment Day 2024 celebrated at Nagaland University, Lumami

The World Environment Day 2024 was celebrated at Nagaland University headquarters in Lumami with great enthusiasm and grandeur, informed a press release by PRO, NU.  The event was graced by Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice Chancellor, as the Chief Guest, who delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the significance of environmental conservation. Er. Temsu Wathi Ao, Senior Director NIC & District Informatics Officer, Government of India, attended as the Guest of Honor. He presented a thought-provoking documentary and shared his insights on the importance of protecting our environment and natural resources.

The program began with a welcome address by Prof. Ashutosh Tripathi, Head of the Department of Environmental Science, who emphasized the crucial role the environment plays in our daily lives. The event also featured special performances by students and scholars of Nagaland University, adding a vibrant touch to the celebration.

Dr. Pranjal Bharali, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Science, chaired the event, and Dr. Kh. Eliza, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Science, delivered the vote of thanks.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) acknowledged the dedicated efforts of Dr. Latonglila Jamir, Associate Professor, Department of Environmental Science, and Dr. Ashutosh Tripathi, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Science, in ensuring the success of the event.

The celebration was attended by Registrar Dr. Abemo, Controller of Examinations Yanrenthung Ezung, Finance Officer N Albert Khizho, along with deans of various schools, faculty members, officials, research scholars, and students. The event served as a reminder of our collective responsibility towards environmental stewardship and the need for sustained efforts to preserve our planet for future generations.
