A District level Half marathon was organised by the NBSE in collaboration with the department of Environment , Forest and Climate change on June 5 in commemoration of World Environment Day under the theme ‘ Land Restoration, Desertification and Draught Resilience ‘
Forest Range Officer, Noklak Imtimar Walling stressed on the importance of planting trees inorder to prevent from desertification, drought and wasteland. While recognising that no places in Noklak has come to the verge of waste land, Walling urged on taking the steps to plant more trees.
As part of the celebration, the half marathon race was held where students from Government Higher Secondary School, Government Middle School, St Paul School, Holy Angel School and Christian High school participated. Mukom C of GHSS bagged the champion title, followed by Sullim K of CHS and Shing K of GHSS in the second and third place respectively in the male category.

In the female category, Shongmo K of GHSS bagged the first place while the second and third positions were taken by Tongkem K of Holy Angels and Supon of St Paul School. Altogether,47 students participated in the half marathon with 25 boys and 24 girls.
The celebration was followed by mass sanitation drive in the respective schools and tree plantation drive.
