World Environment Day observed by Kiphire Forest Division

The Kiphire Forest Division organised the World Environment Day celebration in Kiphire on June 5, 2024, in collaboration with nine NBSE affiliated Schools (Loyola Hr. Sec. School, Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Good Shepherd School, El Beth School, Cambridge School, Saramati View Modern School, Trinity School, Agape Hr. Sec. School and Holy Cross School) under Kiphire Town and the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Kiphire District.

The event commenced with the Half Marathon for the students, which was flagged off by Chinese Chakhesang, SP Kiphire. In the main event, which was hosted by the Loyola Higher Secondary School, Rev. Fr. Philip Magh Rengma, the Principal of Loyola Higher Secondary School welcomed all the invitees and participants.

Temsuwati Longkumer, DC Kiphire, was the Special Invitee for the programme. In his speech, the DC Kiphire, urged everyone to pursue for environmental conscious lifestyle. Several environmental challenges were highlighted, as well as the contributions that can be made to mitigate them.

On behalf of the Kiphire Forest Division, Chupitho, ACF, expressed gratitude to the following: the Principals and Teacher in-charge of the nine schools, the DC Office for collaborating with DHEW on the event; the CMO and District Hospital for providing the ambulance service and medical staff; and the SP Office for the logistical support, security arrangements, and deployment of Traffic Police personnel.

During the programme, the winners of the Half Marathon were also felicitated. The Winner, 1st Runner-up, and 2nd Runner-up in the boy’s category were Toroli of Loyola Higher Secondary School, Thrilongse of Cambridge School and Suripa Anar of Loyola Higher Secondary School. In the Girl’s Category, Ilivi Chophy of Agape Hr. Sec. School, Azila L. Sangtam of Saramati View Modern School and Asela of Holy Cross School were the Winner, 1st Runner up and 2nd Runner up, respectively. The ceremonial planting by the DC and ACF Kiphire, as well as the Principal and faculties of Loyola Higher Secondary School, marked the program’s conclusion.
