The World Mental Health Day cum Free Medical Camp was held today at the S.P. Phek office by Phek Police in coordination with the Government District Hospital Phek.
At the event, Dr. Pritpal Kaur IPS,SP Phek spoke on the Mental Health Act 2017 where she urged everyone to speak up on mental health issues and seek help. She also motivated everyone to fight with stress and temptations with one’s determination and good hobbies.
Dr. Temsu Along Pongner, Psychiatric,DH Phek, spoke on reasons of stress and various policies of WHO to manage it.He explained the significance of the day and to prevent stigma related issues on mental health. He said that out of every eight person, one person suffers from mental illness and sometimes it is a ratio of 1:5. Maximum mental illness is found among 46 percent of teenagers, 19 percent among adults and 13 percent among children, according to the Psychiatrist.
Kelhouletuo Keyho, Psychiatric Social Worker, DMHP demonstrated all the exercises for stress management and gave practical sessions to everyone like breathing, muscle relaxation etc.

Meanwhile, Maninder Sachdev,retired CBI officer, joined via video conference and spoke on the subject. She motivated to fight with stress in one’s life with different techniques and postive mindset.
The medical camp Included free testing of blood pressure, blood sugar, pulse, O2 and other vitals measurements. Around 150 representatives/officials from Forest Department, Phek Government College, Students’ Union, members from D.C. Office Phek, DEF Phek Family Welfare Members, Team of Medical staff, SIB officials and public attended the Seminar.
The programme was chaired by Tekaosang, SDPO, Phek and invocation prayer by MS.Thujongolu Veswu,Women Leader,PBC, Phek while the vote of thanks was delivered by Keviletuo Soliiezuo, ABI RHQ.
