World Meteorological Day: Assam Rifles conducts awareness lecture at Tening

Kohima: World Meteorological Day is observed every year on 23 March to commemorate the establishment of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).

In an effort to create awareness of meteorology and the environment among the local populace of the region, Jalukie Battalion Assam Rifles (AR), under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N), conducted an awareness lecture on World Meteorological Day at Tening village, Peren on 23 March.

World Meteorological Day is observed every year on 23 March to commemorate the establishment of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO). The theme for this year’s World Meteorological Day was “The Ocean, Our Climate, and Weather”, a defence update informed.

During the lecture, the basics of meteorology, including the study of weather patterns, atmospheric conditions, and climate change were explained to the villagers.

The lecture team also advised the villagers to take necessary precautions during extreme weather conditions.

AR further advocated measures to reduce carbon footprint and conserve the environment, including planting trees, reducing plastic waste, and promoting eco-friendly practices.
