World Music Day observed in Noklak for the first time

Noklak district celebrated World Music Day for the very first time on June 21, initiated by the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) Noklak district in collaboration with KBCA Youth Department at Baptist Church Thang. The celebration brought together the community in an expression of faith, talent, and harmony.

The event commenced with a youth combined worship service, uniting young people from five churches around Noklak led by Noklak Town Baptist Church Youth Department. Words of encouragement on the “Importance of Music and its Impact” was delivered by Lasha P, Youth Promoter KBCA.

Following the worship service, the main World Music Day program began with an eulogy in honor of late. Nokyen Shiu, a pioneering singer and artist of the tribe. TaFMA district partner Noklak, Pongkhao welcomed and highlighted the aims and objectives of TaFMA Nagaland to be carried out this year in the district, He informed that once in two months an open house will be conducted and during Tsokum festival, a grand celebration of music and competitions would be organised whereby the winner will represent the district in the upcoming Hornbill Festival 2025.

Local artists, youth bands, and solo performers performed a blend of gospel and contemporary music. The event highlighted not only the musical talent within the district but also showcased a gospel rock band from Tuensang, guest band of the event ‘The Echoing Whisper’.

The event marks a significant milestone in the district, laying the foundation for future events that promote music, culture, and community engagement. A total of 12 artistes participated in the event.
