World Tuberculosis (TB) Day was observed at the DC’s Conference Hall, Wokha, on March 24. The programme was organized by the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), District TB Centre Wokha under the theme “Yes, We Can End TB. Led by Bharat, Powered by Janbhagidari.”
Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Vineet Kumar, IAS, graced the occasion as Special Guest. In his address, he acknowledged and appreciated the achievers in different categories such as Gold, Silver, Bronze, and encouraged them to strive for greater accomplishments. He emphasized the importance of discipline in the treatment process, highlighted the causes and impact of late detection, and urged citizens to undergo testing and seek early treatment.

Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Wokha, Dr. Mhonchan Kithan, highlighted the significance of World TB Day, while Chief Medical Officer Wokha, Dr. Thungchanbemo Ezung, delivered the welcome address. A special number was presented by Hungjantaren Okho, and a testimony was shared by cured TB patient Renchanbemo Ovung, inspiring others with his recovery journey.
During the programme, 37 achievers were felicitated, including two gold achievers Mekirang and Okhaeyan villages, eight silver achievers, and 27 Bronze achievers. The district showed improvement compared to last year, when 34 villages were recognized.
The event also marked the launch of the 100 Days TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan campaign by Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar, IAS, reinforcing the collective commitment to eliminate TB through awareness, early detection, and community participation.
