The Nagaland Wushu Association (NWA) organised a two-day judges’ seminar and technical training programme at the Nagaland Olympic Association office, Kohima, aimed at strengthening officiating standards and enhancing technical expertise in the state.
The training was conducted by NIS-certified coach Gabriel Khamo, who not only focused on officiating skills but also introduced participants to the basics of Wushu (Sanda), enabling them with the knowledge required to eventually establish their own academies in Nagaland.
A total of 17 trainees representing the districts of Noklak, Peren, Kohima, Phek, Dimapur, Mokokchung, and Mon attended the programme.
In his concluding remarks, Coach Khamo encouraged the judges to be prepared for the upcoming Nagaland State Wushu Championship (Sanda event) scheduled for October 21–23, stressing that homegrown referees and technical officials are best suited to nurture the sport at the grassroot level. He further urged the trainee coaches to put in their best efforts in training young talents when they return to their respective districts.
