Y Patton conducts surprise checks in Govt offices in Wokha

Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton today carried out surprise checks at several government offices in Wokha to assess staff attendance.

During the surprise check, he found three officials absent in SDEO office of School Education Department, which has a total strength of 15. In DEO office, one official was found to be absent, where the total strength is 17.

In Samagra Shiksha office of the School Department, three officials were found to be absent out of the total strength of 11. In the Civil Supply Department office, two officials were absent out of the total strength of 15 and in SP Office, two officials were absent out of the total strength of 45.

However, Patton expressed happiness to witness some offices operating with near-full strength and appreciated them for the commitment to duty.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister directed actions against those found absent without justification.

“Public office is a responsibility, not an option — those entrusted with it must be present to serve. Such checks will continue until discipline and accountability become the norm,” he wrote on social media platform “X”.

He was joined by Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Vineet Kumar, SP Wokha, Relo Aye, Lotha Hoho team led by chairman, Mhondamo Ovung and officials of Lotha Students’ Union led by vice president, Rhonbemo P Ezung, among others.
