He also stated that the Mobile Canteen contingents will also function as Beat Patrol parties to extend better policing to rural and otherwise less-policed areas to help instil a sense of security among people and keep a vigil on anti-social elements in the rural areas. This will be achieved through the involvement of DEFS, NAP, and IR Bn units of Nagaland Police, he added.
Patton also said that Nagaland Police have made another milestone with the commissioning of the GCMS instrument at Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Dimapur. He observed that this will significantly bolster forensic investigation capabilities and also aid the police force and the judiciary enormously in gathering irrefutable evidence, delivering justice in time and containing the drug menace.
Mentioning that as Nagaland moves forward on its developmental journey, there will be tests of our resilience when tensions seem to divide communities, Patton encouraged the department to uphold the shared hopes for a just, inclusive, and non-violent society.
“The police have a vital role as both protectors and trusted partners for all citizens. They must act with courage, integrity and compassion. Citizens too must respond with wisdom, empathy and goodwill defying purveyors of hatred,” said Patton.
Patton also lauded the men and women of the Nagaland Police Force for being committed to maintain law and order and pursuing justice.
Meanwhile, Patton also presented the award from Ministry of Home Affairs to Chiephobozou Police Station, Kohima on being ranked as the ‘Best Police Station’ of Nagaland in the Annual Ranking of Police Stations for 2023.
