The 50 years celebration of the Mpai Students’ Union began at New Mpai village in Peren district on Friday with Kechi Insing, Personal Secretary to T.R Zelaing and a native of the village as the chief guest.

Speaking at the programme, Insing encouraged the youths and students to overcome laziness and dedicate themselves to knowledge. He exhorted them to be responsible and hardworking.

Further, he said that the youths should not be disheartened when faced with failure as failure is the pillar of success. He advised them to instead try a different method and approach if they fail to achieve something.

Literary competitions were also organised for the students on the occasion. The competitions included essay writing on the topics ‘Mpai Students’ Union in the next 25 years’, debate on ‘Clean Election’, poetry writing about Mpai village and painting competition.

The next event of the Golden Jubilee celebration will be held on 29 July 2023 at Peren town, where a cultural programme will be organised.

On 23 and 24 October 2023, the students’ body intends to conduct a games and sports meet in Jalukie town.

The main celebration of the Mpai Students’ Union Golden Jubilee will be held at Mpai village on 29 December 2023 where the stone monolith will be laid, souvenir will be released, and the Jubilee feast had been planned among many other things.
