Under the theme, “Come Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20) , the Yikhum Baptist Church celebrated its Quasqui Centennial Jubilee.
The celebration commenced on September 30 and will conclude on October 2.
On the first day of the celebration, Rev John Ovung, Former Executive Secretary LBCA unveiled and dedicated the Jubilee monolith while the Jubilee Convention hall was inaugurated by Rev. Achumo Kithan, Pastor Tchuphyangza Baptist Ekhumko.
On the second day of the Quasqui-Centennial Jubilee celebration, Theme Speaker Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, on behalf of Ao Baptist Arogo Mundang (ABAM) extended his heartfelt congratulations to Yikhum Baptist Church for completion of 125 years Quasqui- Centennial Jubilee after its establishment.
“It was through God’s grace that ABAM managed to extend the little bit of support towards the establishment of Lotha Baptist Churches Association way back in 1923 and through all this historical events and realities that happened strongly serves to witness the relationship between ABAM and Yikhum Church,” said Rev.Pongener.
Narrating the story of Yikhum Baptist Church which began in year 1898, the Speaker shared the story of two person from Yikhum Village who brought Christianity in the village. “Nkhao Jungi, the first convert christian received baptism at Impur on 2 october 1898 and Shanjamo Jungi (Younger brother of Nkhao Jungi) baptized and studied at Impur and became the second convert Christian from Yikhum Village. Both of them married Ao ladies, Nukshila and Clark Mary from the same village. Their marriage was the true start of the Ao’s and the Lotha’s community,” informed Rev. Pongener.

Acknowledging the presence of God, the Speaker believed that the jubilee celebration will be a blessed one for members of the area in their Christian life.
Earlier, the ABAM choir enthralled the gathering with beautiful gospel numbers.The programme was chaired by Chenirao Jungi, prayer invoked by by Atul Gogoi, Missionary,Dhemaji, Assam and the benediction was pronounced by Roland Ngullie, Pastor Senjum Yan Baptist Ekhumkho.
The program was followed by a celebration feast.
