Chümoukedima district celebrated 14th National Voters’ Day at DC & District Election Officers Office, Conference Hall, on 25th January, 2024, under a theme “Nothing like Voting, I vote for sure”.

DC Abhinav Shivam, IAS, speaking on the occasion focussed on youth and first-time voters and expressed that the youth and the young voters hold the future of Nagaland. He stressed on ethical voting and its vicious cycle as well as how election is associated with social and economic welfare of the state.

He mentioned that every individual is responsible for the welfare of the state, and voting is not the only step forward but the first step towards a change and for better tomorrow. He further pointed that blaming the politicians alone will not help change the systems but every individual should take responsibility to improve the society, as Nagaland is a close-knit society which can be leverage for the benefit of the society. He expressed hope that every citizen will make efforts to strengthen the electoral process in true spirit of democracy.

On the occasion, awards and certificates were presented in various categories. For Best Booth Level Officers – Temsuinla Longkumer and Visaseto Khro from 4 Ghaspani-l A/C and 5 Ghaspani-ll A/C. Winners of Youth Voter Festivals were given to students from Government Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima. In Painting Competition: Sangminthang Gangte and Angavlk Wotsa. In Extempore Competition: Tovitoli and Swuli. In Easy competition: Philarin P. Shimray and Imsangpong.

PWD ICON for Chümoukedima District was felicitated to Inaholi Zhimo. Besides newly enrolled electors were also felicitated. National Voters’ Day pledge was administered by ADC & ERO, Chümoukedima, Dr Kuzonyi Wideo while vote of thanks was delivered by EAC & AEO incharge Mhashumi T. Ezung.
