The 4th edition of Mokokchung Winter Carnival 2023 commenced with grandeur at the Town Square (Police Point), organized by the Adventure and Motorsports Association Mokokchung (AMAM). Col Rahul Gurung, Commandant 12th Assam Rifles, Mokokchung, graced the occasion as the inaugural patron.
The inaugural patron, Col Rahul Gurung, emphasized in his speech that youths are the strength and torchbearers of society. He stated that they play a vital role in nation-building and expressed his vision for the participating youths, hoping to see them excel in various fields such as sports, medicine, engineering, entrepreneurship, and others in Mokokchung.
Moasashi Jamir, President of Adventure and Motorsports Association Mokokchung (AMAM), welcomed attendees and highlighted the carnival’s objective: to infuse festivity into the town, beckoning people from their warm hearths to explore the myriad offerings at the stalls. The event, he emphasized, is a family affair featuring good food, music, and an overall warm and cozy atmosphere.

Jamir also informed that AMAM is providing a special kids’ play zone, ensuring that the carnival caters to all age groups. Notably, the majority of stalls are managed by enthusiastic youngsters, offering them an opportunity to earn and instilling the value of “dignity of labor.”
The crowd was treated to a captivating performance by Hailinator band, adding to the festive spirit. Chumlamo Humtsoe, Additional Deputy Commissioner, extended season’s greetings to the gathered audience.
The inaugural program featured a special pipe band display by the 12 Assam Rifles, followed by Col Rahul Gurung inaugurating over 100 stalls offering games, food, and various items. The Winter Carnival will conclude on 22nd December 2023.
