Youth Recreation and Impact Centre launched in Kiphire

Kiphire: Longleng, Mon, Tuensang and Kiphire selected under the first pilot project

The first of Pilot project ‘Youth Recreation and Impact Centre’ initiated by the Department of Youth Resource & Sports, Nagaland under the State Innovation Program 2022-23 was launched today at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall today.

Kiphire District Sports Officer (DSO) Mangla Imchen said that the main motive behind the creation of the Youth recreation and impact centre is “to integrate the idea of how sports, fitness and music can shape our mental health better at the same time distancing the young people from anti-social practices, rather finding a healthy space for themselves.

He said four districts so far have been selected under the first pilot project including Longleng, Mon, Tuensang and Kiphire after which it will eventually cover other districts of Nagaland.

“Since the eastern districts compared to other advance districts of Nagaland lacks in the areas of Sports, music and gyms therefore, these “impact centres will be a stepping stone for the youths of these eastern districts,” Imchen said.

These impact centres will be administered by the organization who have received the project headed by the DSO. Basically, a management committee will be formed to look after the affairs of the impact centre.

In this regard, Imchen said the United Sangtam Baptist Lithroti Ashimükhong (USBLA) will form the committee for Kiphire District.

Further, the management will decide on how to provide the facilities under minimal charges so that more people can avail the opportunity, he said. Financial/recruitment for instructors, music teachers will be looked after by the organization management committee. The DSO further added that the turf facilities will be implemented in coming years as the government of Nagaland is keen in boosting sports facilities for the youths.

Kiphire district received one table tennis board, One carrom board, one of each electric guitar, bass, Acoustic guitar, Mixture, speaker, Microphone with stand and one drum set besides some sets of Dumbbell and one Tread mill.

The programme was chaired by Tethso RJT with a dedicatory prayer from Alison, Associate Pastor, KTBL, vote of thanks was delivered by Throngethsi Association Secretary, Youth USBLA and benediction from mass.
