Dr. Tumda Newme, Independent candidate of 6th Tening Assembly Constituency announced that his visions for his constituency if elected to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly election 2023.
Newme had earlier kicked off his campaign rally on the 13 February in Ahtibung Town, Peren district.

His vision statement, he said, includes promoting and supporting the bright and promising students and youth in the field of education and professional sectors. Improvement of road connectivity and enhancement of the socio-economic life of the rural community are also prioritised.
Provision for basic health facilities and critical infrastructure, enhancement of livelihood through Agri-Allied Sectors and protection of the rich natural resources through Eco-tourism are mentioned in his vision statement.
On 15 February, Dr Tumda visited Ntuma village and interacted with the public. He spoke of his confidence and encouragement to see large number of people coming forward to stand for change and development after all the struggles they have undergone for more than two decades.
The candidate is hopeful that the public will be more vigilant in choosing their candidates in the upcoming General Election and usher in change in the system.
LL Kuki, 2 times candidate from 6th Tening A/C and former 3 times President of Kuki Inpi (KIN), has extending his support to Dr Tumda’s candidature.

Newme got his MBBS Degree from Regional institute of Medical Science (RIMS), Imphal and began his medical practice in Rural Medical Center, Jalukie in 2001. He was also former Secretary, Central NDPP from 2017 to 2018. He held various positions as a public figure and was president, Zeme Council Nagaland from 2018 to 2022.
In the 2023 NLA election, Dr. Tumda Newme will be contesting against 5 candidates at 6th Tening A/C: Rosy Thomson from Indian National Congress (INC), Namri Nchang from Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Henry Zeliang from Naga People’s Front (NPF), Zandi Domta from National People’s Party (NPP) and Tarie Zeliang from Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).
