YouthNet and the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland organised “LaunchPad Education and Career Fair 2023” in Kohima on 14 April 2023 at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima for students who recently appeared their HSSLC exam 2023. The fair was graced by the Advisor, Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu as the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Hekani stressed on the importance of mainstreaming attractive teaching and learning methods in all schools and lauded all the stakeholders for taking the big step of introducing innovative programs in improving the education system in Nagaland. She also gave out the LaunchPad Awards to the Best School to GHSS Tseminyu.
Dr. Tsielhoutuo Rhutso gave out the award for the LaunchPad Best Teacher to Rhonbeni Kikon of GHSS Jotsoma and Smart Phone to Chichan of GHSS Chukitong, Wokha. The LaunchPad program will also award scholarships to selected students to pursue their graduation which will be fully sponsored.
Earlier, YouthNet director, Nouneseno Chase highlighted on the overview of the Launchpad and short speeches were delivered by MLA Dr. Tsielhoutuo Rhutso, Akumla Chuba, Director, Dept. of Youth Resources and Sports, Shanavas C, Deputy Commissioner Kohima and Thavaseelan K, IAS, Principal Director, Department of School Education.
The invocation prayer was delivered by Zakie Metha, Pastor Emmanuel Baptist Church Kohima, while welcome note and closing remark was delivered by Ravolü Chüzho.
LaunchPad, a Career Guidance and Employment Skills Development Program designed for students pursuing their 12th Standard in all Government Higher Secondary Schools across Nagaland with the aim to empower the youth by providing them career guidance and build their employability skills is initiated by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS), Government of Nagaland, in partnership with YouthNet and supported by the Department of School Education, Government of Nagaland.
The Fair is the last leg of the LaunchPad series which is being organized in Kohima. The next Fair is scheduled on the 15 April 23 at Tetso College, Sovima. Altogether 35 colleges, VTIs, ITIs, polytechnics and potential employers from various companies will be participating in the 2-day Fair.
