YTC and TTC sign MoU on recruitment of Police constables

The Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) and the Tikhir Tribal Council (TTC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 3 outlining an agreed methodology for recruitment to the post of Police Constables. The MoU was signed during a meeting held at the Chief Secretary Conference Hall, Kohima, under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton, who holds the Home and Border Affairs portfolio, informed a press release by the Media Cell, Dy CM (Home & Border Affairs)

As per the agreement, the allocation of posts will follow a 75:25 sharing ratio between the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes respectively. The decision was made after thorough discussions and was unanimously agreed upon by both tribal councils.

The understanding is strictly limited to the matter of Police Constable recruitment and does not affect the ongoing litigation between the two tribes. Both YTC and TTC have assured their full cooperation in all matters related to the implementation of the MoU.

The meeting was attended by Director General of Police Nagaland Rupin Sharma, Home Commissioner Vyasan R., Additional Director General of Police (Administration) Renjamo Kikon, Special Secretary (Home) Limasunep Jamir, Home Secretary Orenthung Lotha, and officials from the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms.

The MoU was signed by Throngso Yimkhiung, President of the Yimkhiung Tribal Council, and P. Timong, President of the Tikhir Tribal Council, on behalf of their respective councils.
