Along with the rest of the nation, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Zunheboto under the Ministry of Youths Affairs and Sports Government of India celebrated Yuva Utsav with the theme, “Panch Pran of Amrit Kaal” on Thursday at Cornerstone Higher Secondary School with Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS as special guest, DIPR informed.
Deputy Commissioner said Prime Minister Modi declared the next 25 years i.e. from 2022 – 2047 as Golden years and that in these years India will continue to develop rapidly. He also exhorted the students by saying that the youth today are doing very well in every field. Citing an example of the recently declared class 10 and class 12 results where the students have done very well, four Naga youths getting through UPSC exams, etc, he encouraged the students to do well not only in studies but also learn employable skills so that in the coming days they would not be dependent on others.
Mali also told the students that there are many bad things in society like alcohol, drugs, etc but it is up to oneself whether to choose the bad or good in life. He added that mobile phone is a blessing but today the youths are getting addicted to it and requested the students not to use mobile phones but concentrate on studies and skill-developing activities. He concluded his speech by citing the famous quote by Swami Vivekananda “Youths are the backbone of our society”.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto, Vekhrolo Kosa encouraged the students and teachers to focus on co-curricular activities. He also added that in order to compete today we need to upgrade our skills and that those who have unique skills are recognised all over the world.
Earlier the programme was chaired by Zakato L Zhimomi, NYKS Zunheboto, welcome address by Tokavi Swu, MD Cornerstone Higher Secondary School, keynote address by P Rebecca Rangnamei, DYO, NYKS Zunheboto, speech on skill development by Priyanka Kumari, MGNF and a special appearance by Shikato Awomi, Youth Director, PBC, Zunheboto.
Students competed in different activities like cultural competitions, declamation, painting, poetry, and mobile photography contest.
