Yuva Utsav/Youth Festival 2022 held at Kiphire

Kiphire: Celebrating Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kiphire organised a one-day mega event under the banner Yuva Utsav/Youth Festival on 15 October 2022 in Hopongkyu Memorial Hall under the theme ‘Sense of Duty Among Citizens’.

Celebrating Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kiphire organised a one-day mega event under the banner Yuva Utsav/Youth Festival on 15 October 2022 in Hopongkyu Memorial Hall under the theme ‘Sense of Duty Among Citizens’.

Chief guest Ane Khieya, EAC Kiphire, spoke on the meaning of being a citizen and elaborated on the historical origins of participation in the community that practices democracy. She reminded the youth that the elected government and the citizens have a social contract, where the fundamental rights like right to education, right to freedom, right to equality and so on, are ensured by the government and in turn the fundamental duties are carried out by the ideal citizens.

Lipichem, Secy ANPSA Kiphire speaking at the event mentioned that practicing fundamental duties is a matter of common sense. He also specified the difference between skill and education, and how both complement each other while also being mutually exclusive.

Gagan, Asst Professor ZPGC, enlightened the students about the theme of the day by stating that it is the power of the youth which can either make or break a nation. Youth are to become the changing agent for their society instead of just being critical and just wishing the status quo to change.

Tsalichum S Sangtam, GS, Kiphire Chamber of Commerce and Industries stated that as a student, one must be aware of one’s duty to prevent littering, save electricity and be judicious with the usage of water as measurable steps which students can practice in their day-to-day life.

He also cautioned the students against the consumption of alcohol and drugs like sunflower, which are currently on the rise and creating menace in society.

Sukanya, MGNF, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship emphasized the need for entrepreneurship in the district to bring about change in society. During the question hour, she clarified how one can get started with little money and grow to avail govt. support in later stages of expansion. Youth were encouraged to explore and expand their potential by availing of market-relevant skill training.

Earlier, the keynote address was delivered by P Rebecca Rangnamei, DYO NYK Kiphire. vote of thanks was pronounced by Tsikhumse. While, Vilika and Modern girls performed at the event.

The second session of the youth festival witnessed various competitions like declamation contest, young writer’s contest, young artist contest, and photography.
