As part of the nationwide campaign to commemorate 11 years of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, Nagaland’s Minister for Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Jacob Zhimomi, and Advisor for Tribal Affairs & Election, Tovihoto Ayemi, on Saturday highlighted the major achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership since 2014.
Addressing media persons, Zhimomi underlined that the past decade has witnessed transformative governance and policy implementation that have significantly altered the socio-economic fabric of the country.
“Before 2014, many governments spoke about uplifting the poor, but there were no transformational changes. Under PM Modi’s leadership, more than 270 million people have been lifted out of poverty,” he said, crediting this progress to inclusive and accountable governance.
He noted that flagship schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, Swachh Bharat Mission, and Jal Jeevan Mission have tangibly benefited millions, especially the poor and marginalized.
Zhimomi also highlighted the role of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism in reducing leakages and ensuring that government aid reaches citizens directly. “Earlier, government schemes faced hurdles in execution. Today, funds go straight to beneficiaries’ accounts, ensuring transparency and impact,” he said.
Citing global recognition of Modi’s leadership, Zhimomi mentioned that reputed international bodies such as the IMF and World Bank have ranked the Indian Prime Minister among the most influential world leaders. “These rankings are based on independent third-party assessments,” he added.
He also pointed to India’s ascent as the world’s fourth-largest economy, noting that in 2014, India was not even in the top ten. “Today, India stands tall with aspirations to be among the top three economies globally,” he stated.
Initiatives such as Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, he said, have created vast opportunities for start-ups, MSMEs, and domestic manufacturing, particularly in the defense and technology sectors. “India is now producing its own defense equipment and moving towards self-reliance in critical areas,” Zhimomi said.
Zhimomi commended the Modi government’s focus on women’s empowerment, saying that women are increasingly being placed in leadership roles. He also highlighted the reforms in the education sector, aimed at making India a global education hub.
Zhimomi also highlighted Ayushman Bharat, the world’s largest government-funded health assurance scheme, as a major contributor to household savings. “If a family earning Rs 100 had to spend Rs 30 on medical costs earlier, that burden is now borne by the government. This savings becomes security and boosts their disposable income,” he explained.
The Minister concluded by saying that under PM Modi’s leadership, India is progressing steadily toward becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047. “The achievements of the past decade are not just slogans, but proven outcomes,” he asserted, calling the journey a celebration of India’s vibrant democracy and visionary leadership.
India’s progress Is a collective Journey: Tovihoto
Speaking at the same event, Advisor Tovihoto Ayemi echoed the celebratory mood, stating that the 11-year journey under Prime Minister Modi has been a “golden era” of visionary leadership and collective resolve.
He shared that a recent high-level meeting with Heads of Departments (HODs), bureaucrats, and district officials was held at the State Guest House to develop a roadmap for ‘Viksit Nagaland’, aligning with the national mission for a Developed India by 2047.
“The government is now actively working to develop a roadmap for a developed Nagaland. We must work hand-in-hand with the rest of the country to fulfill this shared goal,” he stated.
Speaking on the broader theme of the celebrations — “Seva, Sushasan aur Garib Kalyan: 11 Saal” — Tovihoto described the 11 years of Modi government as a “golden era” in Indian history.
“This journey was not walked by PM Modi alone, but with the collective dream and hard work of 140 crore citizens. His tenure will be remembered in golden letters as a period of Sankalp (resolve) for a developed and self-reliant India,” he said.
The Advisor also pointed to the significance of advanced technology and its role in India’s rapid progress, stating that under Modi’s leadership, India has embraced modern solutions and advanced governance that are visible across every sector.
He concluded by saying that not only at the national level, but even in BJP-ruled or BJP-allied states, development and good governance have become hallmarks of administration.
